Six String Social

Sick of Letting the Kids Have All the Fun?

Join us on Thursday, July 31st for a FREE edition of our weekly adult guitar class, Six String Social, featuring none other than our beloved acoustic guru Joe Rivas!

This special session is completely free and open to the public. Whether you're a parent or family member of one of our students, a curious beginner, or a lifelong learner finally ready to reconnect with music — this is your chance to jump in and give it a try.

No experience necessary!

What to Expect:

Joe rotates each week between technique and song study to help students build a well-rounded foundation in acoustic guitar.

  • Technique nights focus on the fundamentals: left-hand dexterity, slides, barring, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and right-hand picking styles.

  • Song study sessions explore chord charts, tabs, and progressions, with an emphasis on rhythm and strumming confidence.

Every class is designed with beginners in mind, so whether it’s your first time or you’ve been out of practice for years, you’ll feel right at home.

Come get your strum on, connect with fellow music-loving adults, and maybe even find your new weekly ritual at
The Guitar Dojo.

*This session will be professionally filmed for promotional content. We’ll ask for your consent to be recorded upon arrival.

Join us on Sunday, August 10th for an unforgettable evening of music and community as we host one of our biggest Live Band Showcase events yet!

We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Starlighter, one of San Antonio’s premier venues, to give Dojo students the chance to perform live in front of friends, family, and fans.

All students over the age of 10 who are currently enrolled in lessons at The Guitar Dojo are eligible to perform.

How It Works:

Students can either join the lineup with their current band or ask to be placed into a new one. All participating groups are required to complete a minimum of FIVE band coaching sessions with a Dojo instructor ($45 per student per session) to secure their spot.

Meezer Goes to College

What began as a few young musicians jamming in our original single-room studio—bonding over their shared love for classic alt-rock groups like Weezer—has grown into Meezer, one of the Guitar Dojo’s most talented and beloved student bands. Now, as they get ready to head off to college, they’re taking the stage for one unforgettable final performance.

With an opening set by our rising student band Whale Sounds, this is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of growth, friendship, and music made together.

Let’s pack the Dojo and send these incredible young artists off in style. Come rock out, cheer them on, and be part of this milestone moment!

Stéphane Wrembel Master Class

Django Reinhardt: The Art of Guitar

Django Reinhardt is perhaps the greatest guitar master the world has ever seen. His work embodies elements of the past, his present (1930s - 1950s jazz), and the future, all fused into a unique and fantastical style. In his playing, one can hear the influences of Bach, Debussy, the Gypsy folk tradition, and jazz. His command of harmony, rhythm, and technique, along with his sense of melody and limitless virtuosity, are unmatched. Behind this beauty lies a mechanism that Stephane Wrembel will unveil for you: the mechanism of perfect form, where Apollo and Dionysus become one.

Stephane Wrembel stands as one of the world's most celebrated guitarists. Originally from Fontainebleau, France, Wrembel is renowned for his masterful blend of jazz, gypsy swing and world music enchanting audiences across the globe with his unique sound.

Wrembel is also a highly respected composer. His original compositions have graced the acclaimed films Midnight in Paris ("Bistro Fada"), Vicky Cristina Barcelona ("Big Brother") and Rifkin’s Festival (original score). Midnight in Paris won the Grammy Award® for "Best Compilation Soundtrack." At the 2012 Academy Awards®, Wrembel was handpicked by renowned composer Hans Zimmer to join his "All Star Band" performing alongside luminaries like Esperanza Spalding, Pharrell, and Shelia E.

Wrembel has shared the stage with legends including Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, The Roots, Medeski Martin & Wood, Me’shell Ndegeocello, John Scofield, Larry Keel, Stochelo Rosenberg, and Sam Bush. His performances on NPR’s prestigious Mountain Stage and the syndicated radio show Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour further showcase his diverse talent. His performances transcend genre boundaries, offering something different to every music enthusiast.

With an already impressive discography of 19 albums released under his name and the pseudonym, The Django Experiment, Wrembel recently released a triptych-- 3 CDs entitled Phase 1, 2 and 3--recorded with his band and Canadian improvisational pianist Jean-Michel Pilc.  Released in April of 2024, the triptych has received glowing press in Downbeat, Guitar Player Magazine, Acoustic Guitar Magazine, New York Jazz Record and more. Wrembel’s collaborations with other top musicians such as mandolinist David Grisman and Grammy Award®-winning guitarist Raul Midon highlight his remarkable versatility.

Additionally, Wrembel is a dedicated musical director and educator. Since 2003, he has curated the Django a Gogo Music Festival, a celebrated week-long event honoring the Sinti guitar style, held in Maplewood, New Jersey, and in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Town Hall and featuring series of master guitar classes.
